I am absolutely overjoyed to announce that Squeaky Clean has been shortlisted for the Scottish Crime Debut of the Year, with the winner to be decided and announced at Bloody Scotland, Stirling’s annual crime fest, in September.
As if this all wasn’t exciting enough for me, it turns out Squeaky Clean is also longlisted for The McIlvanney Prize – Scottish Crime Book of the Year!!!
Insane.
Names on the list include Ian Rankin, Val McDermid, Douglas Skelton, and, I’m very happy to say, the brilliant SG MacLean for her wonderful historical novel The Bookseller of Inverness. I’m also really happy to see a couple of the other debuts (Kate Foster and Heather Darwent) on this list too – it’s been an incredible year for Scottish crime and I reckon it’ll be a very difficult choice for the judges of both categories.
Huge congratulations to everyone!
The support of the team at Pushkin Press and my agent Emily has been absolutely crucial in getting here and I owe them a massive, massive thank you for all they’ve done.
Can’t wait to head to Stirling in September for Bloody Scotland!
