The Glencairn Glass Crime Short Story Competition

I’m honoured to have been asked to judge the Glencairn Glass Crime Short Story Competition this year!

Along with the amazing Kate Foster and Gordon Brown (AKA Morgan Cry), I’ll be helping decide who takes home the £1000 prize, to be announced at Bloody Scotland 2024 in Stirling next year, and I cannot wait to get reading!

The competition is open to writers anywhere in the world who are over the age of 16. Entries should be 2000 words max and submitted by 31st December. The theme is simply “A crime story set in Scotland”–lots of space to get creative!

I’ll be looking for a story with an arresting voice and great style which does something clever with the crime tale considering the limited word count. And, of course, a bit of humour goes a long way with me.

Winner takes home £1000, the runner-up gets £500, and both will receive six bespoke engraved Glencairn glasses for all their whisky guzzling needs.

You can find more info, the tees & cees, and submit your story here.
