Festivals 2025

Now that some programmes have officially been launched I can go up on the roof and yell about the incredible festivals I’m taking part in this year!

The Not-So-Secret Book Festival

First up, on June 22nd I’m off to Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland, where I’ll be chatting to living legend Colin Bateman at the Not-So-Secret Book Festival, the debut fest from the town’s brilliant local book shop, The Secret Bookshelf.

Edinburgh International Book Festival

Absolutely honoured to be invited to be part of EIBF this year – my first time attending. I’m going to be talking to musician and novelist James Yorkston on 19th August and, to my delight, the event will be chaired by the wonderful Rodge Glass. To my further delight, our panel is called ‘Headbangers & Eejits’. Whether that refers to the characters or the authors themselves remains to be seen.

Bloody Scotland

The best book festival in the world: Bloody Scotland! Cannot wait for this! I’ll be taking part in a panel called ‘Scotland the Grave’ with fantastic crime scribe (who has terrible taste in biscuits) Marion Todd and Foday Mannah, whose first book The Search for Othella Savage is up for the festival’s Debut Award this year. We’re closing the festival on Sunday 14th Septmeber, don’t go home before you see us!
