I’m really thrilled to say I’m back in the pages of Shoreline of Infinity once again with my short story, Great Nothing.

It’s been a couple of years since I last had a story in Scotland’s top SFF mag (I’ve got to admit I’m more fan than contributor, I love Shoreline, the previous issue [#26] – a spotlight on trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming authors edited by my pal and former Aether & Ichor colleague, Eris Young – is just incredible, and if you’ve never read an issue of SoI before it’s a great place to start) and I’m stoked to be back again with another creature feature.
This time it’s less Monsters, Inc. and more Evolution. Great Nothing is set during the Cold War at a Russian research base in the Antarctic. Something’s gone wrong there and we should go check it out, right? Probably gonna be fine and not at all horrifying and dangerous. (For fans of The Thing.)
I’ve had a sneak peak of the issue already and the artwork by Stephen Daly accompanying my story is amazing, I can’t wait for people to see it. I love it, it makes me want to write a comic, it’s so cool seeing even a single scene of your work illustrated like that.
Great Nothing sits alongside work by Christopher Collingwood, Jack Shouten, RV Neville, Jo Ross-Barrett, and Alex Storer in what is surely to be another classic edition of Shoreline in its new monthly digital incarnation.
It’s out this Friday, 8th October 2021, and can be bought from the Shoreline of Infinity website.
Thanks for the shout out Callum! Can’t wait to read your story in this issue! E
