I’m over the moon to announce my short story Great Nothing is being republished in the next full print edition of Shoreline of Infinity – Issue 29, out tomorrow (09/12/21). How’s that for an early Christmas present to me!?
Great Nothing takes place during the Cold War in the middle of the Antarctic, where contact with a remote Russian research post has been lost. KGB agent, Orlova, arrives to investigate (and we all wish her the best with that).
It first appeared in SoI 27, a digital-only edition, but will now be getting the full print treatment – which the incredible illustration artist Stephen Daly did for it truly deserves. I also recently read an excerpt from it at Event Horizon – and brought along the picture for show-and-tell – which you can watch here. (From 01:18:50, though there are some excellent performances, by Eris Young among others, so I’d urge you just to watch the whole thing.)
Along with my story, there’s fiction and poetry from some top writers – I’m stoked to be sharing a TOC with the excellent Tim Major again, one of my faves! – and an interview with Scottish SF ledge Ken McLeod about his new book Beyond the Hallowed Sky.
You can buy a copy of Issue 29 (and back issues – go on, treat yourself!) from the shoreline website here.
